Hoard of bronze ornaments
Chronology:
Early Iron Age. 6th c. BC
Location:
Wakijów, Lubelskie, Poland; hoard (deposit)
Dimensions:
9.0 cm (plate length)
Muzeum Narodowe w Lublinie
The hoarde consists of a necklace, a spirally twisted ribbon, a fibula with an openwork plate, and a triangular openwork pendant with suspended decorative items. Particularly noteworthy is a twisted necklace with flattened arms, probably from the Kujawy metal working centre. The openwork fibula and pendant are also very original finds. The fashion for large-size fibulas with various pendants typified the Hallstatt culture. This unique set of items, probably of votive purposes, alludes style-wise to artefacts found in Slovakia, Hungary, and the Dniester zone.
